About Me
I'm Kim! Nice to meet you!
I am a multidisciplinary designer and artist in Portland, Oregon and received my BFA in Animation & Illustration from San Jose State University. I dip my toes into a bit of everything to do with art and design and have recently been diving into User Experience. I have come full circle in my interests from a fine art background focused on the visuals to the more cerebral and technical problem solving of digital design and am currently looking for a position that merges these two passions together.
I also enjoy dreaming up extraordinary worlds and characters and bringing them to life through paint or pixel perfection. When I'm not creating art I am likely enjoying cuddling kitties, spicy food, comedy, and games.

My Values
These are values that I have identified to be either intrinsic to my personality or are exceptionally important to me. They are an essential part of who I am and the kind of work that I would like to do.
My Process
My Process combines that of the 5 Steps of Design Thinking and the 5 Planes of User Experience. Although these may look linear, they are iterative in nature and circle back around to constantly be improving.

Thoughts on Design
Design to me is iterative problem solving in order to add something new and interesting to the world around us. It involves having a curiosity and drive to understand how things work and use that knowledge to make things better in a way that advocates for and empathizes with the people that the design serves. Once it's useful and clearly understood it can then be made beautiful visually to emphasize the delight of the experience as a whole.
